Charleston, West Virginia delivers a serious dose of metallic hardcore. Violent Convictions have released their debut album By My Hand, which came out on July 10, 2026 through their own label, Remain Convicted Records, as the label’s very first release. The album is available on LP, CD, cassette, and digitally.
To be honest, I first came across the band through an ad that popped up on Facebook, and the artwork immediately caught my attention. So I decided to give them some time and started digging for more information while listening to the record…
The band rose from the ashes of Causes of Humanity’s Urban Decay (CHUD) and wanted to take things in a much heavier direction from the start. Their sound is built around brutal hardcore infused with metal, with influences including Hatebreed, Blood for Blood, Terror, Lionheart, Biohazard, Madball and 100 Demons – and yes, you can definitely hear many of these influences in their music.
Before the album was released, the band put out the single “The Cure”, which showcases exactly the aggressive side of Violent Convictions that By My Hand is built around. But the album isn’t just a collection of heavy riffs and pissed-off hardcore. Lyrically, it touches on personal loss, addiction, and the problems that have been weighing heavily on the Appalachian region for years.
Another big plus is the band’s DIY approach. Remain Convicted Records was founded by the members of Violent Convictions themselves, and the album was recorded and mixed with Joey Kusack at Amplitude Record in New York City. The artwork was created by Australian artist Mick Lambrou.
By My Hand is definitely not a debut for anyone looking for something polished or safe. This is heavy, dark and pissed-off…
