Texas punk band Bullshit Detector are preparing a new 7” single, Northern Lights. Pre-orders are now open and, according to the band, the record is heading into production. If everything goes according to plan, it should be finished and shipped within the next two to three months.
Northern Lights features tracks that ultimately didn’t make it onto the upcoming full-length album. The band left them off because they were musically too different from the rest of the material. At the same time, they felt the songs were too good to simply scrap, so they are getting their own 7”.
The two tracks are quite different from each other in terms of atmosphere. The first one is sharper and, I’d say, more punk-oriented, while the second takes a slower and darker approach.
The 7” will be available on red and black vinyl, and both tracks can already be streamed digitally. Definitely an interesting taste of what’s to come for fans of Texas punk before the new album arrives.
According to Bullshit Detector, the LP itself is already 99% complete and should also be heading into production soon.
