London outfit The Easy Eight, also known by their shortened name EZ8, are getting ready to release their debut album The Easy Way Out. The record will be released on August 29, 2026 via Static Shock Records and will feature eight tracks in total.
Although The Easy Eight are a new band, their lineup is made up of familiar faces from the London punk and hardcore scene. The band features members of The Chisel, Arms Race, Stingray and Last Affront. On vocals is Chubby, the frontman of Chubby And The Gang.
The band first made themselves known last year, when they released a four-track demo under the name EZ8. Those recordings now form the foundation of their debut album, complemented by four brand-new tracks. The Easy Way Out therefore captures the band’s first year and their search for their own sound.
Musically, The Easy Eight are taking a slightly more melodic direction this time around and, to me, they sound more like Chubby And The Gang than The Chisel. The band themselves describe their music as the more melancholic side of the ’80s Ramones, with a touch of Misfits. Whatever you want to call it is pretty much beside the point — the result is perfect melodic punk with strong choruses, occasional melancholic touches, and still enough bite to make the connection to the London hardcore scene clear.
The band have already released several tracks from the album, which is currently available for pre-order on vinyl and digitally.
