Greek outfit Pempti Kasta from Thessaloniki are back with a new EP. The band, which moves between Oi!, street punk and hardcore punk, have gone for a simple approach this time – two songs, no filler. They call it EP 2026, and it was released in September, currently available via Bandcamp.
The first track, “Blood On The Weekend”, is an angry look at the streets of today. Pempti Kasta talk about violence, a lost and divided generation, street conflicts and the influence of social media. The picture of weekend streets full of violence is accompanied by criticism of a world where everyone seems to be king on the internet, while reality around them is increasingly getting out of control.
“Young & Screwed” takes a slightly different direction. There is more nostalgia and memories of being young, the streets, punk rock and places that people once considered home. At the same time, it is not some romanticized look at the past. The lyrics talk about a wasted generation, outsiders and people who refused to sell themselves out, but ended up “young and screwed” anyway.
Pempti Kasta are definitely not newcomers to the scene. Their self-titled debut album came out in 2015, followed by From Streets With Hate (2018), the Δεν Άλλαξε Τίποτα 7″ (2020) and their latest album, No Ceasefire, in 2024.
Pempti Kasta were already playing both new songs during their Reapin‘ Europe 2026 European tour in the spring, and now they have finally made it onto an official release. The killer artwork was created by Malwina Siedlecka from Old School Design.
EP 2026 may contain only two songs, but Pempti Kasta themselves sum it up perfectly: “Quality over quantity.” And in this case, it really fits. Two short, straight-to-the-point tracks reflecting the band’s view of the streets, the city and the young generation living in it.
For now, you can check out EP 2026 on Bandcamp, and the band have also announced that it will soon be available on other digital platforms.
