Supporting new blood is important! Septum šejdrem from Brno, Czech Republic, are back with their new album Mecenáš, released on October 16, 2026. I really enjoyed their debut last year. It was bursting with youthful energy, rebellion, and a desire to do things their own way. Exactly the kind of record that makes you happy to see new bands still emerging on the scene, unafraid to pick up their instruments and give it everything they’ve got.
The band has come a long way since their debut. They’ve changed drummers, and you can hear their sound gradually evolving on the new record. Mecenáš feels a little different, but it still retains the energy and raw edge that belong to this kind of music. Rather than simply repeating what worked last time, the band is taking another step forward.
Another interesting feature is the switch between Czech and Slovak, which adds an extra dimension to the album. Combined with melodic riffs, pounding drums, and a punk attitude, it makes for a varied record that doesn’t try to stick to one familiar formula. Septum šejdrem clearly have no intention of standing still, and Mecenáš shows they’re eager to keep moving forward.
These are exactly the kinds of bands worth keeping an eye on and supporting. They don’t need twenty years of history, a stack of albums, or an established name behind them. What matters is that they have something to say, they’re having fun doing it, and they want to play. Septum šejdrem caught my attention with their debut, and their second album gives me another reason to keep an eye on them. So give them a chance, spin Mecenáš, and support the new blood coming out of Brno!
