Something dark has awakened in Brno! BOY are back after a long eight-year break with a new album, Enemies Of The Light, and this is definitely not a comeback you can afford to overlook. The band return with a revamped lineup and a strong Norwegian connection. Tommy Akerholdt from Turbonegro takes over behind the drums, while Knut Oskar Nymo from Oslo Ess handled the bass. The entire album was recorded in Oslo under the watchful eye of producer Johan Larsson.
It’s immediately clear that BOY have put just as much effort into the visual side of things as always. The dark, carefully crafted image, striking artwork and overall visual concept fit the mood of the album perfectly. This is a well-thought-out release where every detail has its place.
The same goes for the music. BOY stay true to their punk’n’roll roots, but Enemies Of The Light is a much more rock-oriented record than some might expect. Heavy guitars, memorable melodies, big choruses and a darker atmosphere meet the raw energy that has always been part of the band’s sound. It’s clear that things have moved forward over those eight years, and BOY are back with a much clearer idea of where they want to go.
The ten new tracks will be released on vinyl via Voltage Records on Halloween 2026. If you’re into punk rock, rock’n’roll and bands that aren’t afraid to turn up the heaviness and add a little darkness, Enemies Of The Light is definitely worth your attention.
