French street-punk band Pavasse from Bressuire in the west of France have released a new music video for the song Violence d’État from their album Des Maux (2023). The clip was shot in collaboration with Mister Project and captures the band in their raw, direct style – no unnecessary effects, just energy, sweat and anger.
Pavasse follows the tradition of French Oi!/punk, which mixes political stance with the harsh reality of everyday life. The lyrics of the song take a direct aim at state violence and police brutality – “manifestants éborgnés par les tirs de LBD – protesters blinded by rubber bullets” says it all. A short, punchy and angry song that says out loud what many people feel, but few dare to shout.
