There’s a new supergroup on the block. GATECRASH brings together four familiar faces from the UK punk scene – Russ Farrell (Dirt Box Disco, Spunk Volcano & The Eruptions), Daryl Smith (Cock Sparrer, Argy Bargy), Andy Furr (ex-Knock Off) and drummer Maff (Dirt Box Disco, Spunk Volcano & The Eruptions). The band jokingly dismisses the „supergroup“ label, calling themselves more of a „Poundland supergroup,“ but one thing is certain – this line-up delivers massive singalong choruses, hard-hitting riffs and songs made for shouting back from the front row.
At the same time, GATECRASH have unleashed their self-titled debut album, now available on all major streaming platforms. Fans of Cock Sparrer and Dirt Box Disco will definitely recognize some familiar influences, but the band is keen to point out that this is no side project – GATECRASH is a brand-new band with its own identity.
Russ Farrell and Daryl Smith share lead vocal duties, creating a dual-vocal attack that gives the songs their own distinctive character. And there’s one more surprise for Dirt Box Disco fans – Russ has ditched his iconic mask and is appearing on stage with his face uncovered for the very first time. According to the rest of the band, that might not have been his best idea…
GATECRASH will make their live debut at this year’s Rebellion Festival, where they’ll also officially launch the new album. Vinyl and CD editions are said to be on the way, with more news expected soon. Go big – or go home!
