New Manifesto from Nightwatchers: Lives Don’t Matter as Long as Dividends Grow

France’s Nightwatchers are back on the scene, and they are certainly not pulling any punches. They’ve just released their first 7″ EP with the chillingly cynical title „Qu’importe la mort“ (What Does Death Matter). Out now on Stonehenge Records, the record delivers four tracks of dark post-punk fueled by raw, urgent energy.

The band accompanied the release with an uncompromising statement that leaves no doubt about their stance. For Nightwatchers, war is merely another business opportunity within a capitalist system that, by its very nature, knows neither balance nor justice. „For them, war is nothing more than another business and growth opportunity,“ the band states. Their lyrics go far beyond mere clichés, directly naming French corporations like Dassault, Thales, Airbus, and Cap Gemini, whose supply chains profit from global conflicts—all with the full support of the state.

The songs explore the tragedies of civilian victims (from Hiroshima to Libya), cynical arms deals, „collateral damage,“ and the harrowing inability to find closure when no body is left to bury. If you’re looking for music that is as much a political strike as it is a dark sonic experience, „Qu’importe la mort“ is a record you cannot afford to miss. The release was recorded and mixed by Stéphane Miollan and mastered by Chainsaw Recording.
