Criminal Damage formed in the UK in 1982 and quickly made a name for themselves in the scene, playing at the legendary SKUNX club in London and supporting iconic acts like The Partisans and UK Subs. Their track „Criminal Crew“ even featured on the classic compilation Country Fit For Heroes 2 on the renowned No Future Records.
However, their promising start was cut short by a 40-year hiatus brought on by circumstances synonymous with the era’s punk scene—from prison sentences to bizarre injuries. Today, Criminal Damage are back at full strength and ready to prove that “Punk Fucking Rock” is far from dead.
The brand new ANGEL EP drops this Thursday, March 26th, and will be available for download on all streaming platforms. The cover art features the band’s mascot and „head of propaganda,“ Maddy, depicted as an angel.
The band describes the tracks as follows:
-
Angel – The title track is an „absolute belter“ based on a true story. A pure slice of punk rock that won’t let you sit still.
-
Those Were the Days – A straight-up Oi! anthem looking back at growing up in 70s Britain. Nostalgia, but in a seriously gritty package.
-
Coal – A final blast where the band blends influences of Motörhead, classic UK82, and raw Oi!. A massive sound that closes the EP in style.
The journey doesn’t end with this release. Criminal Damage have already announced they’ll be back in the studio this July to work on even more material. It’s clear this band still has plenty to say after forty years. If you enjoy their authentic ’82 sound as much as I do, make sure to follow them on social media and show your support—they’re brilliant!
