The Catalan punk/oi! scene is opening heavy fire. The Barcelona-based crew OFENSIVA, which has been active since 2019, released their first full-length album with the telling title „Guerra“ (War) on May Day.
OFENSIVA serves up ten uncompromising tracks that drive you through both history and the grime of today’s streets. Thematically, the album plunges into the dark waters of war, resistance against totalitarianism, and the raw reality of life in Barcelona’s neighborhoods.
The lyrics feature powerful moments—from the despair of the trenches (La Trinchera) to chilling historical reminders in tracks like Edelweiss Piraten or Noche y Niebla (referencing Nazi deportations), through to the criticism of the Stalinist era in the song El Sol no brilla en Moscú. Musically, it’s clean, energetic, and straightforward Oi! with a real drive, just as a band from Barcelona should be.
Since May 1st, the record has been available on all digital platforms, primarily on their Bandcamp, where you can support them by purchasing the digital album for a fair price of €5. For „asphalt“ lovers, the good news is that a vinyl version is in the works and should hit distribution as soon as the pressing is finished.
