A new wave of traditional heavy metal is rolling out of Kristianstad, Sweden. It’s a bit outside the genres I usually focus on, but good music is simply good music. The quartet Savage Sword has just unleashed their first effort, titled simply „Demo 2026.“

The band has signed with the German cult label Dying Victims Productions, which is a seal of quality in itself. The demo features four hard-hitting tracks, and sonically, Savage Sword stays true to honest, epic heavy metal.

Released officially on January 23rd, 2026, the record is available on digital streaming platforms as well as a stylish cassette version for the physical media enthusiasts. If you worship classic heavy metal, swords, and that 80s aesthetic, this is exactly for you. And if you just love any guitar-driven music with a great flow, give it a chance – it definitely hooked me.
