Revenja – Cicatrius: Scars of the Past, Battles of the Present

Catalan street-punk powerhouse Revenja is back with their third full-length album. The record, titled „Cicatrius“ (Scars ), was created throughout 2025. Released on Friday, March 27, the album is available both online and on vinyl through a network of „trusted labels.“

And there are plenty of them! „Cicatrius“ is the result of a massive international co-production. The Italian label Rumagna Sgrosa, who has collaborated with the band before, is thrilled to announce the release of this LP under catalog number RS109. Joining this international network are German friends from Fire and Flames Music, and a lineup of Catalan and Spanish usual suspects: El Purgatorio, Ribot Rec., El Rantell, Relapso Rec., and Kremon Rec.

What to expect from this new release? Political Street-Punk / Oi! in the finest Catalan tradition, drawing comparisons to legends like Opcio K-95, Pilsners, Suspenders, and Desperta Ferro. The band feels mature and refined, retaining their characteristic vocals backed by great choruses.

The lyrics, completely in Catalan, dive deep into both personal and political themes. The first half of the album addresses internal chaos, agony, and accepting past scars as part of identity (tracks Desperta, L’agonia, Cicatrius). In the second half, Revenja shifts to nostalgic memories of the good old times in bars (Una història a cada port, Laila, Sempre), but also a harsh critique of Barcelona’s gentrification (Sense bitllet de tornada) and an uncompromising political statement in the track Confessions d’un terrorista (Zpověď teroristy), which is a powerful indictment of occupation and identity oppression.

Rumagna Sgrosa concludes their presentation of the record with words that resonate with the band’s spirit: „Stories of struggles and real life with a message that is always positive and empowering.“
