Legendary US hardcore/punk heavyweights M.I.A., with roots stretching back to Las Vegas and Orange County, are back with new material after an incredible four decades. If you thought this resurrected band was just going to coast on their proven classics, the „No Man EP“ is here to prove you wrong.
Recorded in December 2025, the release features four tracks. Three are brand new, while the fourth, „Tomic Bomb,“ is a real treat for the old-school heads—a previously unreleased song written back in 1980 by the band’s very first incarnation, then known as The Swell.
In true DIY fashion, Modern City Records (for Europe) and Darla Records (for the US) have gone all out. The release is limited to just 300 copies on colored vinyl, featuring a hand-screened cover and an insert. If four songs aren’t enough for you, recent years have also seen reissues of their classic albums Notes From the Underground (1985) and After the Fact (1987).
M.I.A.’s history hasn’t been easy in recent years. Following a 2008 reunion (originally to honor the memory of the tragically deceased singer Mike Conley), the band suffered another blow when then-vocalist Todd Sampson passed away. However, the remaining trio decided to soldier on, with guitarist Nick Adams taking over vocal duties.
The EP release is accompanied by a tour. Throughout April, they are tearing through Europe alongside my personal favorites, Bleakness, with the itinerary including the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, and France.
If you want to own this piece of history, don’t sleep on the pre-order. Three hundred copies of a legend like this will be gone before you can say „Las Vegas punk!“
