The Philadelphia-based band Impact Driver is back with their new LP, Don’t Be Long Here, which essentially delivers one massive anthem for the Oi!/punk scene. The band formed in the „capital of ska and punk“ – Philly – precisely because, as they say, „there wasn’t enough honest Oi!-punk here.“ In 2025, the official word broke that the album would be released on the Dismantled Records label in the fall, and now it’s finally here.
The first single, „Man of Action,“ is already out, and the accompanying video clearly states: enough talking, let’s get to work. Stylistically, this is hard Hardcore-Oi!-Streetpunk, a combination of aggressive riffs, street drive, and the tradition of Oi! gang vocals.
The band was founded with the goal of „filling a vacuum“ in the Philly scene, where a few people had stepped back or moved on. Don’t Be Long Here serves as a challenge: if you wait for something to happen on its own, you’re out of luck. Just move, and maybe a piece of the world will move too – don’t be long here, go and do something. Sonically, this means power, fast tempos, hooks that hit hard, and lyrics with attitude.
If you like bands that don’t aspire to the mainstream but want to give it their all – Impact Driver is showing at full force, right here and now, that it can be done.
