The Australian crew Deez Nuts, who previously leaned towards the „party, beer, friends, and mayhem“ style, is releasing a new album on Century Media Records, which carries a slightly different flavor. Saudade – the Portuguese word for a melancholic longing for a time or thing that is gone – precisely captures the band’s shift. After years of wild hardcore-rap fury, they are looking back. It’s no soft statement, but rather a more mature look at what remains after all those years of touring, partying, and loss.
Sonically, it still cuts deep – the guitars sound clean, the drums kick like a Doc Martens to the ribs, but there’s something else echoing from the background.
In the lyrics, you’ll find more personal moments, exhaustion, and humility, without losing that classic energy. Tracks like „Miss Me With That“ or „5 Gold Chains“ have a hit-like drive, and „Hang the Hangman“ featuring Andrew Neufeld of Comeback Kid is a reminder that the hardcore scene still sticks together.
The band recorded in Portugal, and the environment is reflected in the record – sun, sea, but also that sense of emptiness that follows every big party. Saudade is not a return to the roots, but more of a reckoning: hard riffs, personal lyrics, and the awareness that time is running out. With this album, Deez Nuts show that even when the party ends, the experience remains.
