Sustrai Berriak, hailing from Iruñea (Pamplona), have just unleashed a fresh single and music video titled „Zure Kaleak“ (Your Streets). If you have a weakness for melodic yet raw punk rock with lyrics in Basque, this is the real deal.
For those who haven’t caught this band on their radar yet (just like me—sorry!), Sustrai Berriak formed in 2016. The lineup Gaizka (vocals), Jon and Oier (guitars), Aimar (bass), and Hodei (drums) already has two full-length albums (Ezpata ta hormaren artean, 2019 and Garun Setiatuak, 2021) and their 2023 EP Biolentzia ta Arnas Ahaleginak to their name.
The new track was recorded in October 2025 at the well-known Sound of Sirens studio under the supervision of Julen Urzaiz. The video takes you through the gritty backstreets mentioned in the lyrics. The song itself is an energetic ride with a bittersweet atmosphere and a relentless drive.
The lyrics hold up a mirror to life in neighborhoods where, instead of luxury and glamour, tension and a sense of social displacement play the lead roles. The songwriter expresses his love and respect for the place he calls home and honors the friends he intends to grow old with in the very same streets where they grew up.
Check out the video, give it a spin, and support this Basque band. You can find the lyrics in the YouTube description, I’m really digging the atmosphere of this one!
