„We’ve seen THE FUTURE, baby. It is murder!“ With this quote, Texas-based formations Die Young and Liberty & Justice introduce their new collaborative release. The split 7″, released through Contra Records and Immigrant Sun, promises an uncompromising listening experience tailored for today’s chaotic times.
While Die Young (metallic hardcore) and Liberty & Justice (street punk) might seem like an unlikely pair at first glance, they are united by shared roots in the Texas DIY hardcore/punk scene. This limited split blurs genre boundaries and showcases the absolute best of the local underground.
Each band contributes an original track in their signature style. As a „cherry on top“ for Liberty & Justice fans, their new song was co-written by Austin Sparkman of Haywire.
The main draw of the EP is, of course, the collaboration between the two bands. Members of both formations joined forces to record a transformative cover of Leonard Cohen’s prophetic anthem „The Future.“ The result is every bit as dark and intense as the title suggests.
The visual side was handled by the renowned street artist GIVE UP, whose artwork perfectly complements the raw atmosphere of the record.
The split is now available on all streaming platforms. For vinyl lovers, orders are in full swing and disappearing fast. If you’re looking for a soundtrack for the end of the world in a Texas-sized serving, you’ve just found it.
