The Buzzers – Bloody Minded 12″

LABEL: Longshot Music, Try And Stop Me Records
YEAR: 2025
The Buzzers, Oi!, streetpunk, Rock'n'oi, Try And Stop Me Records, Longshot Music

The Buzzers are a crew from Vancouver, Canada, where young blood meets seasoned veterans of the Canadian and American Oi! / street rock scene. It’s no surprise that the band members have previously appeared in projects like Toy Tiger, The Enforcers, Ultra Sect, No Heart, Sydney Ducks, or Suede Razors – names that already carry some weight in their genre. After their debut 7″ single from 2022, The Buzzers return with their second release, this time in the form of a 12″ vinyl. The record is out on Try And Stop Me Records for Europe and Longshot Music for North America.

Compared to their first single, the band has toned down the rawness and aggression a bit, focusing more on melodic ideas and catchy guitar lines. The result is an energetic mix of bootboy rock and melodic Oi!, full of strong hooks and a solid dose of rock’n’roll flair. The Buzzers aren’t afraid to play around with song structures and sound confident and natural – perfect for fans of bands inspired by mod / pub rock, power pop, or classic 70s rock’n’roll.

The record opens with „Pick Of The Fight“, which immediately draws you in with a great guitar intro. „Incoming“ follows with a powerful, singalong chorus and stands out as one of the most anthemic moments on the album. Side A closes with the rhythmically tight „Silence“, showing the band’s sense of tension and dynamics.

Side B keeps the momentum going. „Running On Fumes“ carries a classic rock vibe and a punchy groove, while „Piss In The Wind“ (my personal favorite) brings a strong rock’n’roll feeling and an irresistible riff. The closing track, „Behind“, wraps the record up in a streetpunk / rock’n’Oi! spirit – dirty, melodic, and full of energy.

All songs hold a consistent level of quality and together create a compact and thoroughly enjoyable record. Despite its musical variety, the album maintains a cohesive and lively atmosphere. Lyrically, it revolves around everyday struggles – battles within oneself, pressure from the world around us, and the absurdity of modern society. The Buzzers‘ lyrics leave plenty of room for interpretation, allowing each listener to find their own meaning depending on their personal experiences and state of mind.

The Canadian scene has been truly thriving in recent years, producing one strong project after another. The Buzzers fit right in with this wave, unafraid to blend traditional Oi! sensibilities with melody and rock’n’roll swagger. They prove that this combination can still sound fresh and authentic. If you’re into modern melodic Oi! with a rock’n’roll soul, this record is one you shouldn’t miss.
