The Canadian trio The Boojums from Nova Scotia, whom we’ve already highlighted after their first two singles, have just released their first full-length effort – the self-titled album „The Boojums“, which came out on October 31st via Having Fun Records.
Twelve songs, thirty minutes, zero boredom. No unnecessary layers, no studio wizardry – everything recorded live „off the floor,“ just the way we like it.
The Sound? Garage rock, punk, a bit of power-pop, but all rough, direct, and with an easygoing attitude. Guitars rattle, the bass rumbles, and the vocals aren’t polished for a single second. You can feel the damp basement, those best weekends just hanging out with your crew, and the urge to escape the small town you never wanted to be born in.
The very first single, „Wings of Fire,“ perfectly summarizes it – escape, head out the window, the engine roaring, and nothing but dreams in your head. The Boojums prove you don’t need a mohawk and a leather jacket to have a punk attitude.
This album is about freedom, noise, and doing it your own way. For fans, the band offers a load of energy, heart, and a DIY approach – they are exactly where they need to be. The Boojums bring a fresh breath of honest guitar noise that will grab you by the ears and the neck. Listen to the whole thing and let yourself be convinced that rock ‚n‘ roll can still be dangerous.
