Rawness and drive. This is the new project GIGOLO.

During one of those late-night scrolls, jumping from profile to profile looking for something that hits you right between the eyes on the first listen, the name GIGOLO popped up. No explanation, no hype, just one track, great artwork, and that’s it. Exactly the kind of project where you don’t know if it’s the start of something big—or just a brief scream into the void.

I’m hoping for the former.

GIGOLO is a solo hardcore punk project based in Prague, fronted by the former guitarist of Skincare. And you can tell—no overthinking, no posing. Just raw riffs, nervous energy, and the feeling that this was born out of a desperate need to get something out, rather than a desire to polish details.

The whole thing feels like a recording that wasn’t meant to sit in a drawer for long. Quite the opposite—plug in the amp, hit record, release it, and move on. Hardcore in the most direct sense of the word. No stylistic gymnastics, no calculation, just a heavy sound with a clear goal.

What’s also interesting is that although GIGOLO started as a pure one-man project, the search for a full lineup is currently underway—specifically a drummer—to turn this into a proper live band. And it makes perfect sense; this material practically begs for a stage. It’s exactly the kind of thing that will thrive live: loud, raw, and as close to the crowd as possible.

If you enjoy discovering projects right at their inception, GIGOLO is well worth your time. A small digital footprint for now, but plenty of energy. Definitely one to keep an eye on.
