Quelques coups d’éclat – The Best of Brest

Brest is exploding! The Petit Tonnerre collective has just unleashed the compilation Quelques coups d’éclat, and it’s a real salvo—20 new songs, all from local bands, all raw, authentic, and done their own way.

The tracklist features familiar faces like Secteur Pavé, Syndrome 81, Litovsk, and Flèches, but also a ton of other bands that are grinding away in garages and basements, and now finally have a chance to be heard not just by locals, but by everyone else. It’s a mix of Oi!, punk, and post-punk—from sharp street anthems to darker, more moody tracks.

It’s available digitally on Bandcamp and YouTube now, and soon (September 19, 2025), there will be vinyl, CDs, and cassettes. They’ll be kicking things off with an outdoor release party in Brest where the whole scene will get together—exactly the way it should be. I think the entire idea is absolutely brilliant, and the fact that someone took it from an idea to a real physical release deserves admiration.

This isn’t just a compilation. It’s a document of the current punk scene from a city at the end of the world where things are still boiling, and proof that the DIY spirit is alive and well.
