From Darmstadt comes a breath of fresh air to the antifa Oi!/streetpunk scene – Pillhuhn Polka. The band was formed in 2023 as the spiritual successor to the legendary Stromberg Polka. Musically, they build on the tradition of classic German Oi!, but according to their words, they add a contemporary sound and a clearly political message. The lyrics touch on the themes of the reality of people from the bottom of society. They made themselves known on stage with the single “Keine Hymne” and recently added a new track “More Than A Lovely Smile”, which paves the way for their upcoming debut Gestern Heute Morgen (announced for November 2025).

Pillhuhn Polka are still at the beginning, we will see how they do. Perhaps they have the potential to become a distinctive voice of contemporary Oi! – raw, political and honest.
