OFFBEAT AFFAIR: Jamaican Rhythms from the Streets of Berlin

If you have a soft spot for early reggae and rocksteady, this post is for you. A Berlin-based international group called Offbeat Affair has just released their debut EP titled „Don’t Need Love“.

This is no sterile modern production. The band stayed true to old-school methods: fully analog recording on a 16-track tape machine with no computers, delivering a raw mono sound just like their Jamaican heroes from the 60s.

The lineup is a diverse mix of musicians from Poland, Brazil, Greece, and Australia. On vocals is Marta, whom you might know from darkwave projects like Tanzkommando Untergang or Monowelt. The rest of the band brings experience from various genres, having played in groups such as St. City Surfers, Bulldog, or The Unmarked.

The release features 4 tracks and is wrapped in a great cover by Malwina from Old School Design, which perfectly captures the vibe of the record. The EP was released in early 2026 and you can find it on Bandcamp, Spotify and Apple Music.
