The Canadian band Home Front released their second full-length album, Watch It Die, on November 14, 2025, under the label La Vida Es Un Mus.
The album features 12 tracks, including the title track “Watch It Die,” “Light Sleeper,” “New Madness,” “Between the Waves,” “Eulogy,” “Dancing With Anxiety,” and the closing epic “Empire.”
Sonically, Home Front mixes dark post-punk and new wave with a punk urgency – analog synthesizers, a drum machine, and raw guitars create a powerful blend that evokes various emotions, mostly the less cheerful ones, but usually with a touch of hope.
The lyrics perfectly complement this, reflecting on loss, loneliness, but also that sense of hope and faith in community: “we’re born alone, we die alone / don’t ever think you have to live alone,” they sing in the single “Light Sleeper.” Struggles, Dreams, and Hope—all balanced.
Compared to previous recordings, the band has improved their performance and sounds more confident. The combination of 80s nostalgia and modern energy gives the album both depth and strength.
This record is not an entirely easy listen; it’s not just a cry into the darkness. The lyrics force the listener to reflect, reminding them of their own unresolved losses that they may have simply hidden away. At the same time, however, it opens up a space to deal with them and move forward.
Watch It Die shows that Home Front are not just a nostalgic callback to the 80s, but a band that knows how to process pain into music that can both unite and encourage.
