A new hardcore punk band called Fix Bayonets comes from Västerås, Sweden, and they have just released their debut Demo 2026. The recording came out a few days ago and features four tracks.
What immediately catches your attention is the combination of male and female vocals. The vocal duties are shared by Mange and Joanna, and the way they switch between each other gives the otherwise straightforward hardcore punk an interesting character. Add a classic lineup of two guitars, bass and drums, plus a suitably raw feeling that fits a demo perfectly.
Fix Bayonets simply describe their music as hardcore punk, and their motto, “No love, just middle fingers!”, pretty much sums up the attitude of the whole recording. The four tracks are over in no time, and I immediately felt like playing the whole thing again. Demo 2026 works as a short but striking introduction to the band.
Besides the digital version, there are also 30 cassette copies and 100 CD-Rs, which are available at the band’s shows.
