První singl z nové desky Résilience

Résilience je Oi! projekt z Paříže. Ve své tvorbě se pohybuje na hranici Oi!, oipunku a cold Oi!. Jejich písně jsou temné a chladné jako podzimní ráno v Pařížských ulicích.

Kapela se zúčastnila kompilace Paris On Oi! na UVPR Records a vydala dvě nahrávky na labelu Mendeku Diskak. Konkrétně EP Résilience a the LP Grise Époque.

Nyní kapela oznámila, že nová deska se bude jmenovat À l’ombre du brasier, bude obsahovat osm písní a vyjde na labelu Common People Records.

Při téhle příležitosti ven vypustila první singl Assault.

Résilience is an Oi! project from Paris. Their sound sits somewhere between Oi!, Oi! punk and cold Oi!. Their songs are dark and cold, like an autumn morning on the streets of Paris.

The band appeared on the Paris On Oi! compilation released by UVPR Records and has put out two records through Mendeku Diskak: the Résilience EP and the LP Grise Époque.

The band has now announced that their new album will be titled À l’ombre du brasier. It will feature eight tracks and will be released through Common People Records.

To mark the announcement, they have unveiled the first single, Assault.

UK streetpunk powerhouse Control has unleashed their sixth studio album, aptly titled „Kick Down The Doors“. If you’ve been missing straightforward, aggressive, and melodic punk rock with a massive dose of Oi! and hardcore punch, Iain and the lads have just served up exactly what you need.

This is precisely the kind of proper streetpunk many of us grew up on. No frills, no compromises – just 14 dynamic, high-energy tracks packed with sharp social commentary and unapologetic lyrics, kicking off right from the opening blast „Fuck the System“. The whole thing slaps perfectly from start to finish.

The new album is out now on all digital platforms, and vinyl and CDs over at MainStage are flying out the doors. This is pure, unadulterated hooligan rock ‚n‘ roll that won’t give you a second to catch your breath!

Toledo Panic – Till The Work Is Done LP

Toledo Panic jsou parta z kalifornské Ventury. Tohle je jejich debutové album vydané u Lionheart Records a kapela do toho hned od začátku pořádně šlápla, když přichází rovnou s plnohodnotnou deskou obsahující dvanáct songů. Stylově jde o mix streetpunku a Oi!, přičemž zásadní roli hrají dvě kytary, které dávají nahrávce plný a nasycený zvuk. V kombinaci s povedeným zpěvem, výraznými refrény a citlivě dávkovanou melodičností vzniká chytlavá směs, která si snadno získá pozornost. Pokud patříš mezi posluchače, kteří si raději než tvrdé Oi! a symbolické tlučení kladivem do prstů vychutnají silné sbory a dobře napsané melodie, měl bys zbystřit. I když je pravda, že občas má i to kladivo něco do sebe.

U Toledo Panic bych si tipnul, že se inspirovali především kapelami jako jsou Cock Sparrer, Bonecrusher, The Business a Street Dogs. Tohle všechno zamíchané dohromady by mohlo dát výsledek, který tu uslyšíte. Od Sparrer si borci berou sborové a silné refrény, od Bonecrusher spád a energičnost, od The Business dělnický podtext a inspiraci a od Street Dogs dávku melodičnosti.

Že nejde o žádný začátečnický projekt, naznačuje už úvodní skladba Falling Down. Stojí na příjemném riffu, povzbudivém textu a několika povedených kytarových vyhrávkách, které dotvářejí její celkové vyznění. Silně inspirovaný britským Oi!punkem mi přišel druhý song Working Machine, po němž následuje zpěvný song Vanilla Town. Všechny tři úvodní skladby spojuje working class tematika a důraz na práci, každodenní život a hledání vlastního místa ve stále se měnícím světě.

Po nich přichází na řadu subkulturní témata a s nimi i hit Old Guard, který je mým osobním favoritem z celé desky. Právě tady se výborně napsaný streetpunk potkává s chytlavými refrény a silnými singalongy. Přesně ten typ skladby, který člověka nutí vracet se k ní znovu a znovu. Po energické Victim’s Victims následuje titulní Toledo Panic, která potěší fanoušky valivého zvuku, mohutných refrénů a celkově připomene projekty typu Bonecrusher.

Stranu B otevírá Stay Rude, která nás okamžitě přenese na víkendový mejdan. Velmi mě pobavil ironický text skladby Work Hard Not Smart, která si bere na mušku nekonečný proud motivačních mouder a pouček zaplavujících dnešní svět. Herbie Get Your Gun vypráví příběh amerických vojáků během druhé světové války, což mě osobně potěšilo, protože podobná historická témata mě fascinují už od dětství. V Laurel Lies si kapela vyřizuje účty s pozéry, kteří podle ní vysávají ducha subkultury ve prospěch vlastních zájmů a lží.

Závěr desky patří instrumentální skladbě a velmi povedenému songu Keep On, po němž přichází osobní For Adam (s The Cure úvodem). Právě poslední skladba patří hudebně k vrcholům celé nahrávky a znovu v ní vynikne práce sólové kytary, která je jednou z nejsilnějších zbraní Toledo Panic.

Grafické zpracování obalu i textového listu ve mně okamžitě evokovalo working class umění přelomu 19. a 20. století, se kterým jsem se měl možnost setkat během pobytu v Kalifornii. Celkové provedení tak velmi dobře koresponduje nejen s původem kapely, ale i s tematickým zaměřením celé desky. Tohle je výborný debut a velká porce kvalitního streetpunku. Zatím jedna z top nahrávek letošního roku a určitě lákadlo pro všechny kdo budou mít možnost kapelu vidět u nás ve staré Evropě na jejich letošním turné.

Toledo Panic – Till The Work Is Done LP

Toledo Panic are a crew from Ventura, California. This is their debut album, released on Lionheart Records, and the band came out swinging right from the start when they bring a full-length record packed with twelve tracks. Stylistically, it’s a mix of street punk and Oi!, with two guitars playing a crucial role in creating a rich and full-bodied sound. Combined with strong vocals, memorable choruses, and just the right amount of melody, the result is an infectious record that’s easy to get hooked on. If you’re the kind of listener who prefers powerful gang vocals and well-written melodies over ultra-hard Oi! and the musical equivalent of smashing your fingers with a hammer, you should definitely pay attention. Although, to be fair, sometimes the hammer has its place too.

If I had to guess, Toledo Panic draw most of their inspiration from bands like Cock Sparrer, Bonecrusher, The Business, and Street Dogs. Mix all of those influences together and you’ll get a pretty good idea of what this record sounds like. From Cock Sparrer, they take the massive singalongs and powerful choruses; from Bonecrusher, the energy and momentum; from The Business, the working-class perspective; and from Street Dogs, a healthy dose of melody.

The fact that this is far from a beginner’s effort becomes obvious from the opening track, Falling Down. Built around a memorable riff, an uplifting message, and several tasteful guitar leads, it immediately sets a high standard. The second song, Working Machine, struck me as heavily inspired by British Oi! punk and is followed by the highly singable Vanilla Town. All three opening tracks share a strong working-class theme, focusing on work, everyday life, and finding your place in a constantly changing world.

After that, the album shifts toward subcultural themes and delivers Old Guard, my personal favorite on the entire record. This is where well-written street punk meets catchy choruses and powerful singalongs. It’s exactly the kind of song that makes you hit replay as soon as it ends. Following the energetic Victim’s Victims comes the title track, Toledo Panic, which will satisfy fans of rolling rhythms, huge choruses, and the kind of sound often associated with bands like Bonecrusher.

Side B kicks off with Stay Rude, instantly transporting the listener to a weekend party atmosphere. I particularly enjoyed the ironic lyrics of Work Hard Not Smart, which takes aim at the endless stream of motivational slogans and self-help wisdom flooding the modern world. Herbie Get Your Gun tells the story of American soldiers during World War II, a topic I personally appreciated since historical themes like this have fascinated me for as long as I can remember. In Laurel Lies, the band settles scores with poseurs who, in their view, drain the spirit of the subculture for their own benefit and personal agendas.

The album closes with an instrumental piece and the excellent Keep On, followed by the deeply personal For Adam (featuring an intro reminiscent of The Cure). The final track is one of the musical highlights of the entire record and once again showcases the lead guitar work, which is undoubtedly one of Toledo Panic’s greatest strengths.

The artwork and lyric sheet immediately reminded me of working-class art from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the kind I had the opportunity to encounter during my time in California. As a result, the visual presentation fits not only the band’s origins but also the overall themes running throughout the album. This is an outstanding debut and a hefty serving of quality street punk. So far, it’s one of my favorite releases of the year and certainly a strong recommendation for anyone who gets the chance to catch Toledo Panic on their European tour.

Third Ego is a new project from the Netherlands that released a new record in May called More Ego.

Third Ego is the exiting new project of Jean, former member of the influential Dutch punk band NRA. On May1st, the new LP More Ego was released, supported by a release tour with shows in NLK, DE, FR and BE.

More Ego is an album where introspection and intensity comes together. Dark, honest, and alive, carrying the raw energy you may remember from NRA, now reshaped into a new and distinct form.

Third Ego je nový projekt z Nizozemska, který v květnu vydal nové album s názvem More Ego.

Third Ego je nový vzrušující projekt Jeana, bývalého člena vlivné nizozemské punkové kapely NRA. 1. května vyšlo nové LP More Ego, které bylo doprovázeno turné k vydání s koncerty v Nizozemsku, Německu, Francii a Belgii.

More Ego je album, kde se setkává introspekce a intenzita. Temné, upřímné a živé, nesoucí syrovou energii, kterou si možná pamatujete z NRA, nyní přetvořenou do nové a osobité podoby.

Razortooth have their new Oi! album online

Oi! Glasgow band Razortooth have stepped up their game and just released a new album.

The album features five new songs and four live tracks. All in the style of great Skinhead Rock And Roll.

Razortooth have already released two EPs on vinyl, you can read a review of one of them here.
