The Belgian trio Midnight Tattoo delivers a two-track EP, released in 2022 by the German label Contra Records. Hailing from Antwerp, the band has been active since 2013. Over the years, they’ve released one full-length album, three standalone EPs, and a split EP with the British outfit The Warriors.

Midnight Tattoo play honest, no-frills streetpunk – no political manifestos, no sweeping social commentary, just beer, street-level punk, and a good time. And that’s meant with full sincerity.

Musically, this is classic singalong streetpunk that fans of bands like Evil Conduct will likely appreciate. The songs are sung in English – no regional dialects, no exotic twists, just straightforward communication with the listener.

The record features two tracks – „Home Sweet Home“ on the A-side and „Streetpunk Heroes“ on the B-side. The titles alone tell you what to expect: everyday tales built on solid riffs and big gang choruses, perfect for shouting along with your mates at the bar or in front of the stage.

The release also includes an insert with lyrics and a photo of the band – three middle-aged guys who clearly aren’t putting on any act and are just doing what they enjoy.  And while it’s nothing revolutionary, these are two solid songs delivered with good sound and production – well worth spinning, especially as a soundtrack to your Friday night at the pub.
