Out of San José, Costa Rica, Wrong Side arrives with their first single, „Temores,“ which serves as a clear and uncompromising gateway into their world. The track is the first taste of their self-titled debut EP, set for a digital release in January, with a vinyl version planned through Mendeku Diskak.
„Temores“ is built on hard, straightforward Oi!/street punk with no frills – heavy riffs, a pounding rhythm, and, above all, a dark atmosphere that prioritizes substance over pose. „Temores“ translates to „Fears“ or „Terrors,“ and the song explores feelings of helplessness and being trapped in an endless cycle of inner anxiety, social alienation, and the frustration of repeated failure. No sweet talk, no attempt to please—just raw music that is closer to reality than nostalgia.
Wrong Side might be a new name to me, but their sound makes it clear they know exactly where they come from. They build on classic street punk while pushing it into a harder, gloomier territory. „Temores“ feels like a precursor to a powerful record, and I’m definitely not going to miss it.
