Bootboy hardcore from Munich. We already mentioned this three-piece squad when we talked about their Stray Dogs EP. This record is their debut LP, originally released in 2023 by German label Try And Stop Me Records. In 2025, the label repressed this sold-out LP, and that’s the version I’m holding in my hands right now.

Choke Combat are influenced by hardcore punk and old-school Oi!, and this LP leans heavily towards hardcore punk with a clear weakness for Oi! There are a few songs that combine a powerful mix of hardcore punk with the straight, kick-to-the-head aggression of Oi! Bleed is a perfect example of this approach. Some tracks are definitely more Oi! stompers, like Apocalypse Now, while others run more through hardcore punk veins, like Soldier. And somewhere in between, Choke Combat also know how to deliver a song with a highly melodic background, like State. The same applies to Blame, which is my favourite track on the record. Some songs are pretty old-fashioned in their approach, like Choke Combat.

Hey, spiked head, do you want to hear some raw sound? Hey, bootboy, do you need to get rid of some frustration and aggression? Both of you are welcome in this pub, because you’re about to get some Choke Combat. This band delivers an aggressive attitude, raw sound and a sharply defined result. If you like the sound of bands like Denim or Bomber 19, mixed with a touch of Oi! and bootboy aesthetics, you won’t be disappointed.
